Manchester United’s Summer 2012 Transfer Targets

Jack Rodwell – Centre-back, Defensive Midfielder (Everton)
The cultured Everton defender seemed nailed on to become a United player before a series of injuries and loss of form cooled Ferguson’s interest. However, he has returned to type this season and could give Michael Carrick a few sleepless nights before the transfer window closes - unless Chelsea get in there first.

Javi Garcia – Defensive Midfielder (Benfica)
Schooled at Real Madrid, the Spanish defensive midfielder made an impression as Benfica all but ended United’s participation in the Champions League this season. A move to Old Trafford would give him bragging rights over cousin Luis who played for Liverpool – although United face competition from their City rivals.
Luka Modric – Attacking Midfielder (Tottenham)
The Croatian schemer had his heart set on a move to Chelsea last summer only to be denied by the powers that be at White Hart Lane. Fergie has been a long-time admirer of his creative talents – even if he doesn’t score many goals. Spurs may struggle to keep himthis time round but expect Daniel Levy to be drive a hard bargain.

Nicolas Gaitan – Attacking Midfielder (Benfica)
Another Benfica player who ran United ragged in the Champions League, Gaitan has been dubbed the ‘Argentine Cristiano Ronaldo’. There have been reports that a £20million deal has already been negotiated with the possibility of Fabio da Silva and Federico Macheda moving in the opposite direction.

Eden Hazard – Attacking midfielder, Forward (Lille)
The Belgian wonder kid has been courted by Premier League suitors including Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City ever since confirming he would leave Lille in the summer. The 21-year-old was said to be flattered after a personal visit from the Great Scot himself, which could place Fergie at the head of the queue.

Wesley Sneijder – Attacking midfielder, Forward (Inter Milan)
The Dutch maestro was the subject of a will he/won’t he? Transfer that lasted the entire close season last summer. Expect more of the same this time round as United still need a creative playmaker and Paul Scholes can’t last forever – although Sneijder might have to lower is wage demands.

Arjen Robben – Winger, Forward (Bayern Munich)
The Flying Dutchman passed up the chance to join United in 2004 after having his head turned by Roman’s roubles at Stamford Bridge. Despite a fragile constitution, he’s proved to be a world class player at Bayern Munich where a bust up with Franck Ribery could convince him to make a Premier League return.
Jordi Alba – Left Back (Valencia)
According to the Metro Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have added Valencia left-back Jordi Alba to their list of transfer targets as a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra. However, Manchester United will have to fork out £15m for the 23-year-old’s services.
Leighton Baines – Left Back (Everton)
Baines is another Left back Manchester United are supposedly targeting as a replacement for ageing full-back Evra. According to the Daily Mirror, the Reds may offer just £5m for the England international.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – Attacking Midfielder (Swansea)
Manchester United are considering a stunning £10million swoop for ­Swansea’s on-loan ­Icelandic star Gylfi Sigurdsson. Sir Alex Ferguson has been monitoring the ­midfielder, who is enjoying an outstanding campaign at the Liberty Stadium after arriving from German club Hoffenheim in January. United are now on red alert after Sigurdsson told Hoffenheim he wants to quit the Bundesliga.

Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva – Attacking Midfielder (Sao Paulo)
Brazilian side Sao Paulo have set a £40m asking price for Manchester United and Chelsea transfer target Lucas Moura. The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who is also wanted by Real Madrid, has a £65m buyout clause in his contract.
Klaas Jan Huntelaar – Forward (Schalke)
United could be eyeing up Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as a possible replacement for Dimitar Berbatov after the Netherlands forward rediscovered his form following difficult spells at Real Madrid and AC Milan. Sir Alex Ferguson is supposedly planning a £12m bid for Schalke striker.

Katika ufafanuzi wake, Hakimu Mkazi, Augustina Mmbando alisema analitupilia mbali ombi la upande wa utetezi, kwa sababu mtuhumiwa anakabiliwa na kesi ya mauji na imefunguliwa chini ya Kifungu cha 196 cha Sheria ya Kanuni ya Adhabu ya mwaka 2002.

Alisema kwa mujibu wa kesi hiyo, Mahakama yake haina mamlaka ya kuisikiliza kesi hiyo, zaidi ya Mahakama Kuu. Hakimu Mmbando ameiahirisha kesi hiyo hadi Mei 21, mwaka huu.

 

Tayari msisimko wa kesi hiyo unaonekana kuanza kupungua taratibu, kwani leo Lulu aliwasilishwa katika ulinzi wa kawaida na mahakamani hapo hakukuwa na idadi kubwa ya watu, kama ilivyokuwa alipofikishwa mahakamani mara ya pili, mwezi uliopita.

Feri yazama India ikiwa na Abiria 300

Takribani watu 103 wanahofiwa kufariki baada ya feri walimokuwa wakisafiria kugongwa na dhoruba Kaskazini Mashariki mwa India.

Polisi wamethibitisha taarifa hiyo, taarifa zinasema kuwa feri hiyo ilikuwa imewabeba abiria 300 wakati ilipopinduka kwenye Mto Brahamaputra katika jimbo la Assam. Taarifa zinasema kuwa watu 100 hawajulikani waliko na kwamba wengine waliokolewa au kujisilimisha baada ya kupinduka kwa feri hiyo.

Kutokana na hali mbovu ya feri nyingi katika eneo hilo kumekuwepo ajali nyingi lakini ajali hii ni mojawapo mbaya zaidi kuwahi kutokea hivi karibuni katika eneo hilo. Maafisa wa polisi wamesema kuwa ajali hiyo ilitokea katika Wilaya Dhubri kufuatia kimbunga kikali. Dhubri ni karibu kilomita 350 kutoka mji mkuu wa Jimbo la Assam wa Guwahati, Polisi walisema feri hiyo ilivunjika vipande viwili kutokana na kimbunga hicho.

City win Manchester derby to go top....

Manchester City took control of the Premier League title race with two games remaining after a derby victory saw them leapfrog rivals Manchester United at the top of the table.

Vincent Kompany's header in first-half stoppage time gave City the win that means they have wiped out the eight-point advantage held by United three weeks ago, and move to the summit on goal difference.

City needed the victory while Sir Alex Ferguson knew a draw would suit his purposes more than opposite number Roberto Mancini - and this was reflected in his team selection that saw Wayne Rooney desperately isolated as a lone striker.

In a game of few chances, City were the more positive side and deserved the three points on offer in what had been labelled the biggest game in the Premier League's 20-year history.

United, in contrast, were passive, poor and lacking inspiration despite the high stakes, failing to get a shot on target as City keeper Joe Hart enjoyed a virtually untroubled night.

And Ferguson's frustrations boiled over in the closing stages when he angrily confronted Mancini after City substitute Nigel de Jong was booked for fouling Danny Welbeck.

The Italian delighted City's support by giving the Scot as good as he got - complete with gestures - as they went head-to-head before fourth official Mike Jones stepped in to restore order.

With United dropping eight points out of their last 12, the momentum and advantage is now with City. Mancini knows victory in their last two games, away at Newcastle United and at home to Queen's Park Rangers, would give them their first title since 1967-68.

City's recent resurgence has also proved decisive for their goal difference as they now hold an eight-goal advantage over United and, as referee Andre Marriner sounded the final whistle, their fans joyously celebrated a victory they clearly felt would prove decisive.

Lukas Podolski will join Arsenal from Cologne this summer

Germany striker Lukas Podolski will join Arsenal from Cologne for the start of next season for an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old international began his career at Cologne in 2002 and joined Bayern Munich four years later before returning to his first club in 2009. Podolski, who has 95 caps, said: "I'm so happy to be joining Arsenal and the Premier League. They are one of the top clubs in Europe with a huge history. "There are many top-quality players at Arsenal and their style is fantastic."  He added: "I have made this decision not against FC Cologne but because it is a great opportunity. "This was not an easy decision for me at all, as Cologne, our fans and the city are something special for me."

The Poland-born forward, who had one year left on his contract, has scored 18 league goals so far this season for a side battling relegation, which is his best ever top-flight return. He added: "I will always carry FC Cologne in my heart. We need to pool our strengths now and have to be fully focused on our survival in the Bundesliga." Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: "He is a top-class player, a very good finisher and a proven performer at club and international level. He is a very strong player and will provide us with good attacking options."

Arsenal are looking to add to their striking options. While although RVP has netted 28 to become the Premier League's leading scorer, their next highest scorer is Theo Walcott on eight goals. Podolski, who will link up with international team-mate Per Mertesacker in north London, played for Germany at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups and is set to be part of their squad at Euro 2012.

He has 43 goals from 95 appearances, putting him joint-sixth in Germany's all-time list despite often playing on the left. Wenger said: "That is a phenomenal record and just shows his quality as a player."

Cologne's executive chairman Claus Horstmann said: "Cologne were prepared to extend Lukas Podolski's contract on the basis of a competitive offer. Nonetheless, this early transfer decision offers scope and planning security for the next season.

"Lukas has left a mark on FC Cologne's reputation and we feel the need to thank him for numerous great football experiences."
