Situated south of the city Mwanza, is
Mwadui, a humble little town accommodating the workers of Mwadui mine, also known as the
Williamson Diamond Mine - the first significant diamond mine in Africa
outside of South Africa. The mine has been established in 1940 by Dr. John Williamson, a Canadian geologist.
