Most Unhappy Countries in Africa
All but two of the 10 least happy countries in the world are in
Africa, according to the UN World Happiness Report, released for the
first time Monday.
Published by the Earth Institute of Columbia University, the report identified Denmark as the world's happiest country.
And
apart from Canada, all the countries topping the list were in Europe,
including Finland, Norway, The Netherlands and Switzerland.
The
10 least happy countries were Togo, Benin, Central African Republic,
Sierra Leone, Burundi, Comoros, Haiti, Tanzania, Congo (Brazzaville) and
Bulgaria.
The report was released at a UN conference
in New York, convened by the government of the Himalayan Kingdom of
Bhutan, on the theme: "Happiness and Well-being: Defining a New Economic
Paradigm".
It was said to be part of ongoing debate by economists on how best to measure countries' progress beyond monetary valuations.
Bhutan, which topped the Asian region as happiest nation, was cited as an example for even richer countries like the US to copy.
Countries
awash with wealth had a lot to learn from the kingdom of Bhutan, which
was admired less for its gross domestic product than for its gross
national happiness index, the report authors noted.

WATENGWA TO FRANCE....
It will be a one month program (with shows, studios, radio interviews and a documentary) and the recordings of the album will be done in both Paris and Marseille.
Watengwa 2 France est un programme d'échange culturel entre la Tanzanie et la France qui fait partie du projet East Africa Rise Up (EARU).
Le projet EARU commença en 2006 en partenariat avec l'association française UUKSA. Depuis 2010, UUKSA organise en région parisienne (Cergy) un festival de musique, appelé Festiv'Al Arrache, afin de soutenir le projet EARU.
L'objectif du programme est de faire venir en France le trio tanzanien de Hip-hop african appelé Watengwa pour jouer avec des musiciens français lors de la 3ème édition du Festiv'Al Arrache ainsi que pour enregistrer leur nouvel album "Full Ile Laana Vol.2".
Le programme durera un mois au total (avec des concerts, studios, interviews radio et un documentaire) et l'enregistrement de l'album se fera à Paris et à Marseille.

Tanzania to host children's forum
The Fourth Forum of the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from June 16–18, organisers said.
A press statement from GNRC said some 250 participants were expected to attend the forum.
The participants, the statement explained, will include representatives from different religious groups, UN and its agencies, the African Union, civil society organisations, government officials and children from around the world.
The forum comes at a time when youth were leading non-violent transformations in various parts of Africa, demanding a better life, better governance and more access to opportunities.
The Tanzania meet will address the challenge of poverty and its devastating consequences for children, not only in Africa, but also around the world.
The meeting is also expected to announce a global initiative to reduce child poverty.
Previous forums were held in Tokyo, Japan, 2000, Geneva, Switzerland, 2004 and Hiroshima, Japan, 2008.

Invisible Children Launch ‘Kony 2012’ Part II

Invisible Children, the advocacy organization behind "Kony 2012," has announced “Kony 2012 Part 2”, a sequel to the record breaking 30-minute video that went viral last month.
"Kony 2012," which has been viewed over 100 million times on YouTube and Vimeo features Jason Russell, a co-founder of Invisible Children, his son, Gavin, and a former child soldier from Uganda named Jacob.
The nonprofit hoped to use the video to raise awareness of Joseph Kony and the atrocities carried out by his Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) in central Africa. After an initial outpouring of support, some criticized Invisible Children for over simpllifying a complicated issue.
The California-based group Invisible Children promised that its new film would give more details and context than the first, which urged grassroots campaigners to pressure politicians and the military to hunt the notorious Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony.
Invisible Children came under scrutiny in the days following the video's success, when the group was criticized for its funding sources and spending practices. Ben Keesey, the CEO of the organization, responded to some of the criticism in a video posted on-line.
Following the onslaught of media attention and scrutiny, Russell, who also directed "Kony 2012," had a highly publicized melt down on March 15 on a San Diego street corner. Russell's family said the following week that the meltdown was brought on by brief reactive psychosis.
"He is on the road to recovery," Jedidiah Jenkins, the group's "Director of Ideology," said on Saturday. "It's going to be months, the doctors say, but he is recovering."
